Opportunities for study abroad

Taking notes in Barreme, S. France.

Studying abroad is an excellent way to see the world and gain knowledge of other cultures and broaden your horizons. So here at Manchester we offer an optional semester abroad in the second year of all our degree programmes. The advantage of this is that you will still graduate at the same time as the rest of your year group, and will not need to fund an extra year of study. You will not need to pay tuition fees to the overseas university, only to The University of Manchester so the cost to you, the student, is kept to a minimum.

Destinations include Europe, the USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia and Latin America.

Angela Escolme hiking in the Rocky Mountains, Canada

Angela Escolme, who studied an M.EarthSci (Geochemistry) degree, recently spent a semester at the University of Toronto, Canada. Here's what she had to say about the experience:

"The highlight of my study abroad period was the fantastic opportunity I had to travel. It made the whole experience much broader, I was able to settle into student life and be a tourist! Road tripping across Canada was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever done and it’s safe to say I had the time of my life."
