School and college liaison
We live on a planet that is constantly changing and evolving and here in the School of Earth Atmospheric and Environmental Science we believe that a better understanding of the world around us, and its past, will enable us to predict its future.
The School of Earth Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences is committed to working in the community to raise the profile and understanding of Earth, Environmental and related sciences.
The school offers a variety of educational resources, events and programmes for teachers and students. These are in line with present teaching and learning strategies and are tailored specifically to the National Curriculum and subject-specific science and geography examinations at Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, including Science GCSE and Geology and Environmental Science AS and A2 levels. The sessions are run in the Williamson Building and delivered in one of our state of the art teaching laboratories and can include a tour of the facilities and the chance for students to meet the experts.
The School of Earth Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences puts on sessions for Key Stage 3, 4 and 5, including practicals that involve:
- Real moon rocks
- Dinosaurs
- Earthquakes and Tsunamis
- Volcanoes
- Scanning Electron Microscopes
In addition to curriculum driven events the school is also happy to provide thematic lectures and careers talks to A level students.
We are also happy to provide up to a week work experience to school students that are committed to pursuing a career in Earth, Atmospheric or Environmental Sciences. This usually takes place in June.
