Geology & Earth Science Programmes.
Geology (3 Years) [BSc]This is a 3 year programme that provides a broad background in all areas of Earth Sciences including courses on plate tectonics, the history of life on Earth, rocks and minerals, Earth resources and planetary geology.
Earth Sciences (4 Years) [MEarthSci]
A 4 year undergraduate masters programme that provides a broad background in Earth Sciences and the opportunity to interact with staff at the cutting edge of scientific research. In the fourth year students follow several MSc courses and complete a research project in an area of their choosing.
Geography and Geology (3 Years) [BSc]
This is a 3 year course that is suited to students that have a strong interest in physical geography and geology. This programme focuses on the natural processes which occur at the Earth's surface and allows students to acquire important skills in both geographical and geological methods.
This is a 3 year programme where students gain a broad education in Earth Sciences along with a more advanced understanding of the application of chemistry to natural systems and their evolution through time.
Geology with Planetary Science (3 Years) [BSc]
This programme is offered over 3 years and provides students with a broad background in Earth Sciences, whilst incorporating the latest ideas from astronomy and other disciplines about how solar systems and the planets they contain form and evolve.
Geology with Planetary Science (4 Years) [MEarthSci]
This programme is offered over 4 years and provides students with a broad background in Earth Sciences, whilst incorporating the latest ideas about how solar systems and planets form and evolve. In the fourth year students follow several MSc courses and complete a research project in planetary science.
Environmental and Resource Geology (3 Years) [BSc]
This is a 3 year programme that provides students with a broad background in Earth Sciences and specialist training in the environmental impact of geological and related activities. This programme is suited to students interested in exploration for Earth resources but concerned about the environmental impact.
Environmental Programmes.
Environmental Science (3 Years) [BSc]
This is a 3 year programme that deals with the relationship between organisms and the environment. It integrates and applies a number of scientific disciplines (chemistry, biology, geography and earth science) to environmental problems.
Petroleum related Programmes.
Petroleum Engineering (3 Years) [BEng]
This 3 year B.Eng programme provides students with the necessary geoscience and engineering skills to understand how the petrophysical properties of different rock types in the subsurface vary and with this information how fluid flow can be managed both within as well as to and from reservoirs in the sub-surface.
Petroleum Engineering (4 Years) [MEng]
This 4 year undergraduate M.Eng programme provides students with the necessary geoscience and engineering skills to evaluate the petrophysical properties of different rock types in the subsurface vary. In the 4th year students gain research experience in this field tackling real industry problems.
