Geomicrobiology laboratory
The geomicrobiology laboratory (B26) is fully equipped for the following areas of microbiological research:
- Isolation of aerobes/anaerobes
- Physiology/biochemistry

Williamson Research Centre
The Geomicrobiology Laboratory is located in the Williamson Research Centre. This area of the School has been recently refurbished to improve conditions for using existing equipment and to facilitate the installation of new facilities provided via a JIF grant through the Natural Environment Research Council.
The facilites avaible in the Williamson Research Centre include:
- Scanning Tunnelling and Atomic Force Microscope with LEED, AES and Molecular Imaging capabilities
- X-ray Spectrometer
- Philips XL30 ESEM-FG Enviornmental Scanning Electron Microscope
- Cameca SX 100 Electron Microprobe
- Plasmaquad 2 STE TM Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (ICP-MS)
