Petroleum Geoscience MScs
The University of Manchester is one of the largest Petroleum Geoscience research and teaching facilities in the UK.  To accommodate our sustained growth and the increase in applications, we have developed the course structure to offer two innovative courses, which also reflect the demands of the oil and gas industry, and the academic profile of entrants. 

Petroleum Geoscience for Exploration MSc

Petroleum Geoscience for Reservoir Development and Production Msc

First graduate entry to the new course structure was in 2010. These Petroleum Geoscience MScs at the University of Manchester offer integrated course programmes with a wide range of taught and research options, and provision of world-class teaching and research facilities. The University of Manchester, one of the largest Universities in Europe, and is firmly established as a global centre of excellence for Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering.  We have very strong links with industry and are supported by most leading oil companies.  We are targeted for recruitment and joining Manchester will provide you with the access to world class tuition, facilities and a degree from one of the leading Universities in the world.

Courses are taught in dedicated teaching facilities, with a strong teaching team of leading academics and experienced oil industry professionals. From 2010 we are please to have Dr Mike Bowman (former VP at BP) leading the new Reservoir Development course, supported by Dr Mike Smith (former head of Petroleum Engineering at BP).

Course fees are inclusive of all costs, we do not charge any supplements for fieldwork or research facilities.  The fees also include provision of field clothing / equipment.

Petroleum Geoscience and Engineering Research within the School
The School is at the forefront of Petroleum Geoscience research, and has close links to industry. There are two main research groups at Manchester who are sponsored by the petroleum industry, and the course benefits from the experience, expertise, and industrial links gained by both of these groups.
